Comparison · Head to head
Animated Emote Maker vs MakeEmojiDifferent starting points, different jobs.
Short answer: use MakeEmoji when you already have an emote or image and want it to move, want a free editor with no account, or need files for many apps (Slack, Teams, Kick, YouTube, LINE and more). Use Animated Emote Maker when you have no emote art yet and want a whole matching set from one character: it locks a character sheet (2 credits), then makes each 8-frame animated emote for 1 credit with Twitch, Discord, 7TV and BTTV sizes in one zip, plus badges, a PNGTuber and channel art from the same character. We make one of these tools, so every MakeEmoji fact below is taken from its own pages.
Side by side
- Starting point — MakeEmoji: an image you upload (PNG, JPG, GIF or MP4 under 5 MB), or a text prompt in its Studio. Animated Emote Maker: 1–3 pictures (PNG, JPG or WEBP, 10 MB each) or a five-question brief, turned into one locked character first.
- Animation — MakeEmoji: preset “Super Animations” (laughing, crying, shocked, dancing, thumbs-up and more) or your own motion prompt in Studio; Standard 3 frames, High 6, Ultra 12 (up to 24 when editing a longer GIF). Animated Emote Maker: preset moves or a 60-character custom move; every emote is an 8-frame loop.
- Same character across a set — MakeEmoji animates each image you give it. Animated Emote Maker draws every emote from the confirmed character sheet.
- Sizes — MakeEmoji: free per-platform resizers (Twitch, Discord, Kick, YouTube, Slack, Teams, FrankerFaceZ, WhatsApp, LINE and others), one asset at a time. Animated Emote Maker: every emote exported at once for Twitch (112/56/28 + 512 auto, animated and static), Discord 128, 7TV 128 and BTTV 112, zipped by folder.
- Beyond emotes — MakeEmoji: a free emoji editor and an emoji pack library. Animated Emote Maker: sub badges, channel points icons, PNGTuber states, Discord/WhatsApp/Telegram stickers and Twitch channel art from the same character.
- Account — MakeEmoji: not needed for the editor; an account saves your gallery. Animated Emote Maker: free in-browser tools need no account; generation needs one (3 free credits on sign-up).
Pricing
- MakeEmoji credit packs: $7 for 30 credits, $19 for 100, $49 for 300. Pro: $10/month for 100 credits or $24.17/month for 300, billed yearly ($120 and $290); unused credits roll over. Credits can also be earned through surveys and offers. Its pricing pages don’t state how many credits one animation uses, so check that in the app.
- Animated Emote Maker: 2 credits per character sheet, 1 per animated emote. Packs $9.99 (15 credits), $19.99 (40) and $39.99 (100); pack credits never expire. A sheet plus 8 animated emotes is 10 credits — about $5 at the $19.99 rate (our arithmetic).
Because MakeEmoji doesn’t publish a per-animation credit cost, we can’t give an honest price for “8 animated emotes” there. Its own advice is to spend AI credits on a few hero emotes and keep simpler reactions static.
When MakeEmoji is the better pick
- You already have emote art and only need motion, especially a custom motion you describe in your own words.
- You want to try things free in an editor without making an account.
- You need files for workplace or messaging apps: Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, LINE, Signal or iMessage.
- You want 12 or more frames of motion on a single hero emote.
When Animated Emote Maker is the better pick
- You have no emotes yet — a selfie, a sketch or just an idea — and want a full set that looks like one character.
- You want Twitch, Discord, 7TV and BTTV files for every emote in one download, each checked against size, frame and flashing limits.
- You also need sub badges, a PNGTuber or a channel kit that match the emotes.
- You want a known price per emote before you start: 1 credit each, failed generations refunded automatically.
Plenty of streamers use both: a character and a matching set here, and an extra-long hero animation elsewhere.
