Why fewer frames is often better

An emote is a gesture, not a scene. Eight frames at about 120 ms each make a loop of just under a second, which reads clearly in chat. More frames add bytes faster than they add smoothness at 28 px, and long loops are more likely to trip the rule against more than three flashes per second.

If you’re over 60 frames

Remove every other frame and double each frame’s delay; the loop keeps its speed with half the frames. Repeat if needed.
