Twitch banner, profile picture and panel sizesWhat Twitch publishes, and what to use where it doesn’t.
Short version: the profile banner is 1200×480 px (Twitch scales it to 480 px high and stretches it on wide screens, so keep the art on the left). The profile picture is a square JPEG, PNG or GIF up to 10 MB. Info panel images are 320 px wide. Twitch doesn’t publish an exact size for the offline video player banner; 1920×1080 matches the 16:9 player. All of these are set in Creator Dashboard → Settings → Channel → Brand, except panels, which you edit on your channel’s About section.
Every channel image in one list
- Profile picture — JPEG, PNG or GIF, up to 10 MB. Square. We export 800×800.
- Profile banner — 1200×480 recommended by Twitch, scaled to 480 px high.
- Video player banner (offline screen) — no published size; 1920×1080 (16:9) fits the player. Animated banners aren’t natively supported.
- Info panels — 320 px wide. Twitch’s two Help pages give different limits (see below); 320 px wide, at most 300 px high and under 1 MB satisfies both.
- Profile accent color — a hex color picked in the same Brand tab, used to highlight your channel’s elements.
Emotes, badges and channel points icons have their own sizes; they are in our Twitch emote size guide.
Profile banner: 1200×480, art on the left
Twitch’s Channel Page Setup article recommends 1200×480 px and explains the catch: pages scale with the width of each viewer’s browser. Images taller or shorter than 480 px are scaled to 480 px high, and the banner is stretched when the window is wider than the image. Twitch’s advice is to make the image as wide as possible and concentrate the graphics on the left.
- Keep your name, character and any text in the left half.
- Let the right side be a pattern or color that still looks fine stretched.
- Check it in a narrow and a very wide browser window before you call it done.
Profile picture: one face, centered
Twitch accepts JPEG, PNG or GIF up to 10 MB. The picture shows as a small circle next to your name in the directory, in raids and in recommendations, so it has to work tiny. A mascot’s face, centered with some margin, reads better than a full-body pose or a logo with words.
Use the same character you use for emotes. When viewers see your avatar in a list and then your emotes in chat, the match is what makes the channel memorable.
Offline screen (video player banner)
The video player banner appears in the player while you’re offline. Twitch’s Help page describes where to upload it (Creator Dashboard → Settings → Channel → Brand) and says animated video player banners aren’t natively supported, but it doesn’t give pixel dimensions. Because the player is 16:9 like your stream, 1920×1080 is the safe choice; 1280×720 also works.
Put the useful things on it: your schedule or usual stream days, your character, and where else to find you. Keep it readable on a phone, where the player is a few centimetres tall.
Info panels: 320 px wide
Panels sit under the player in the About section. Twitch’s Channel Page Setup article says panel images must be under 2.9 MB and no larger than 320×300 px; its How to Edit Info Panels article says under 1 MB and no larger than 320×600 px. Larger images are resized down automatically. Staying at 320 px wide, under 1 MB and no taller than 300 px meets both versions.
Typical panels: About, Schedule, Rules, Discord, Donate, Emotes. Short one-word titles stay large at 320 px. The text below each image supports Markdown but not HTML.
Make them a set
The channel page is one of the first things a new viewer sees. Use one character, two or three colors and one font across the avatar, banner, offline screen and panels, and it looks planned even on a brand-new channel. Draw or generate the character once, then place it in each format rather than making each image from scratch.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions

Square, JPEG, PNG or GIF, up to 10 MB. 800×800 px gives plenty of detail for the small circle it appears in.

Twitch doesn’t publish one. 1920×1080 (16:9) matches the video player. Animated offline banners aren’t natively supported.
How big can Twitch panels be?
320 px wide. Twitch’s Help pages give 320×300 under 2.9 MB in one article and 320×600 under 1 MB in another; 320 px wide, ≤300 px high and under 1 MB fits both.
Where do I change my banner and profile picture?
Creator Dashboard → Settings → Channel → Brand. Panels are edited from the About section of your channel page.

No. Twitch’s Help page says animated video player banners are not natively supported, so use a still image.
